Drug Deal Shooting Shuts Down Sunset Boulevard In Hollywood

One man is dead, and the shooter remained at large Monday morning.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man was shot to death in a drug deal gone bad on Sunset Boulevard early Monday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The shooter remains at large.

Police were called to the 5900 block of Sunset Boulevard at 12:49 a.m. Monday where they found the victim, said LAPD Officer Lizeth Lomeli.

"The officers found the victim inside of his car. The victim had suffered a gunshot wound," Lomeli said. "He was pronounced dead at the scene."

He was buying drugs from another man when the two got into an argument and the dealer shot the victim, according to police.

Authorities described the victim and the shooter as men in their 30s. The suspect was last seen wearing a black hoodie and running southbound, Lomeli said.

Sunset Boulevard was closed in both directions between Bronson Avenue and Gordon Street for the crime scene investigation, police said.
