East Hollywood Fire Sends 3 People To Hospital, Arson Investigation Is Underway

A firefighter was burned and two civilians were taken to the hospital after a fire ravaged an East Hollywood duplex Monday morning.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — An arson investigation is underway after a fire damaged an East Hollywood duplex Monday morning and sent two civilians and a firefighter to the hospital, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to the fire at 1265 N. Lyman Place, near Fountain and Virgil avenues, at 6:22 a.m. to find the two-story duplex on fire. It took 32 firefighters 17 minutes to knock down the first-floor fire, according to LAFD Capt. Erik B. Scott.

After extinguishing the flames, firefighters were able to more thoroughly search the building and found one person on the first floor, who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, Scott said.

One firefighter was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening burns. Another woman who came forward with an unspecified medical emergency was also taken to a hospital, according to Scott.

LAFD arson investigators are conducting a fire-cause investigation, per protocol, Scott said.
