Ex-'SNL' Writer Found Dead in Hollywood Hotel

Joe Bodolai, 63, died in apparent suicide, authorities say, although cause of death has not been determined.

A former writer for TV's Saturday Night Live was found dead Monday in a hotel near Hollywood Boulevard in what appears to be a suicide, authorities said Tuesday.

Joe Bodolai, 63, was found dead in a hotel room in the 1700 block of Whitley Avenue at about 1:30 p.m., Craig Harvey of the Los Angeles County coroner's office said.

Bodolai wrote for SNL in the early 1980s and co-wrote the first draft of the film Wayne's World.

The cause of death has not been determined, entertainment news website TMZ reported. Antifreeze, a poison if ingested, was found in the hotel room, the website reported.
