HOLLYWOOD, CA — Residents of the Columbia Square Living apartment building in Hollywood got a scare Tuesday night when a fire broke out on the 16th floor. With the help of overhead sprinklers, firefighters quickly put out the fire.
Smoke could be seen from across the city shooting out from a 16th floor balcony engulfed by a rubbish fire. The fire broke out just before 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of North El CentroAvenue.
"First arriving LAFD personnel discovered a rubbish fire had occurred on a 16th floor balcony of the 20 story Columbia Square Living apartments and was held by fire sprinklers upon LAFD arrival, before flames could cause any collateral damage," said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
