Fire Breaks Out At Duplex In Hollywood Friday Afternoon

The LAFD searched the building multiple times after receiving reports that people were trapped inside.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Following reports that people were trapped inside a vacant residential building in Hollywood that caught fire Friday afternoon, firefighters determined that no one was in the building and extinguished the flames, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a vacant two-story duplex at 5447 W. Lemon Grove Ave., just east of Hollywood Forever, at around 3 p.m. Friday. They completed multiple searches of the building in response to reports of people trapped inside but found no one, firefighters said.

It took 38 firefighters 19 minutes to extinguish the flames. The incident remains under investigation, the LAFD said.
