Fire Tears Through Hollywood Strip Mall
The North Cahuenga Boulevard blaze took 81 firefighters nearly 90 minutes to put out.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — A stubborn fire tore through a Hollywood strip mall early Thursday morning, destroying a laundromat and convenience store.
The North Cahuenga Boulevard blaze took 81 firefighters nearly 90 minutes to put out, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. at a shopping center at 1840 N. Cahuenga Blvd, he said. The fire fully engulfed a one-story a 5,500 square-foot one-story L-shaped strip mall that contained a laundromat and a 7-Eleven, according to the fire department. The intensity of the greater alarm fire put crews in defensive mode, trying to stop its spread.
