Galerie Werner on Combining Art and Business

Combining The Arts And Other Business Options Is A Popular Choice For Galerie Werner And The Arts Club

November 2017 saw the unveiling of a new mural at a West Hollywood public school which has its roots in the history of the arts in Europe from the 19th-century onward. Designed by iconic English artist, Sir Peter Blake, who is best known for his work on The Beatles "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album cover, the mural adds to the many different pieces of art owned by the second-largest school district in the U.S. As one would imagine, the mural by one of the great artists of the 1960s at West Hollywood Elementary School brings bright, colorful images painted on site by popular local artist, Debi Cable.

What sets the painting of the mural at West Hollywood Elementary apart is the fact it was created by one of the world's oldest and best-respected artistic groups, the Arts Club. Based in London, the Arts Club has been combining artistic endeavors with public service and a dedication to bringing the arts to the community in an accessible way. Taking on a range of different activities have been the domain of the Arts Club since it was established under the leadership of author Charles Dickens in the mid-19th-century.

The arts industry in Hollywood has always been of the greatest importance to the economy of California and the arrival of the Arts Club in Hollywood will see a new building constructed to continue the good works of the group. Arts Club plans in Hollywood were discussed by Academy-Award winning actress, Gwyneth Paltrow who is a member of the group and revealed a free gallery space will form the majority of the first floor of the planned building. Space will also include retail and event areas which will add to the range of artistic opportunities open to the public when the planned nine-story gallery finally opens.

Galerie Werner curator and founder Melanie Werner has created a privately-owned art collection based upon her own tastes developed over the course of her education in Art History. The gallery tackles European artistic works from the 18th-century through to the early 20th-century period which has been of most interest to Melanie Werner; the majority of the works owned, sold, and displayed by Melanie Werner have their basis in the artistic movements of the mid-19th-century when the Arts Club was being formed in London by a group of the most important artists in the U.K. Melanie Werner shares the view of the Arts Club and the public school system of Hollywood that art should not solely be the plaything of the richest people in the world. Coming to the art curation industry without any formal Art History education, Melanie Werner took classes in Art History and questioned artists and dealers about the works she found most interesting as she sought to build her level of experience and pursue her dream of artistic success.
