Gunman Aims At People At 101 Freeway Onramp, Prompting Standoff
After two hours with a Los Angeles Police Department SWAT Team, the alleged gunman was taken into custody.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — A man aimed a firearm at people near the on-ramp to the northbound Hollywood (101) Freeway in Hollywood, triggering a SWAT Team standoff and freeway closure Friday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The standoff lasted for nearly two hours at Franklin Avenue and Gower Street before the alleged gunman was taken into custody. The incident began at about 11 a.m., when officers responded to reports of a man with a gun.
A SWAT team was sent to the scene, and the Gower Street on-ramp to the northbound 101 Freeway was closed as a precaution.

At about 1:15 p.m., the man was taken into custody, according to the LAPD. The on-ramp was reopened a short time afterward, according to the CHP. No injuries were reported.
The man's name was not immediately available for release. Authorities did not immediately say what motivated the man.
