Hikers Rejoice at Long-Awaited Runyon Canyon Reopening

After a four-month closure for pipe repairs, the popular parks has reopened.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Hikers, exercise enthusiasts, sightseers and dog- walkers again descended today on the hiking trails at Runyon Canyon, following a four-month closure that allowed for repairs on a water pipeline.

The repair work was done on a roughly one-mile stretch of a 6-inch Department of Water and Power water pipe line, said Diana Bulnes, spokeswoman for the city Recreation and Parks Department.

Runyon Canyon is one of the city's most popular hiking spots, thanks to its sweeping views of the city and the nearby Hollywood sign. A yoga field at the park remained open during the pipe-repair project.
