Hollywood Break-In Leads To 6-Hour Standoff: LAPD

According to police, a former tenant broke into his old apartment after being evicted, leading to an hours-long standoff with police.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — After nearly a six-hour standoff with police, a tenant who broke into his former apartment in Hollywood was taken into custody early Monday evening, an officer said.

The problem stemmed from the man being evicted from his apartment, according to Los Angeles police.

The incident began about 11:25 a.m. in the 5800 block of Willoughby Avenue, said LAPD Officer Tony Im.

The LAPD's SWAT team was called to the scene and set up a perimeter around the location, Im said.

The man was taken into custody at about 5:10 p.m., Im said.
