Hollywood High School Locked Down Due To Barricaded Suspect

An armed suspect is barricaded near Hollywood High School, and police are advising people to avoid the area.

HOLLYWOOD, CA —An armed suspect in Hollywood forced the lockdowns of Hollywood High School and Larchmont Charter on the campus of Selma Elementary School Wednesday morning.

The lockdowns were quickly lifted by 9:30 a.m., but a police standoff with an armed suspect barricaded in a sidewalk tent nearby continued, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers are trying to persuade the suspect to emerge from the sidewalk tent at Selma Avenue and McFadden Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The standoff began at about 7 a.m.

School police officers continued to monitor the situation, as LAPD officers continued their efforts to take the man into custody, school police reported.

Residents were being advised to stay away from the area.
