HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Firefighters contained and extinguished an intense fire after battling heaving flames at a Hollywood strip mall for nearly an hour and a half Thursday morning.
Fire crews were called at 1:48 a.m. to 1840 N. Cahuenga Blvd. south of Franklin Avenue where they found a one-story a 5,500 square-foot one story L-shaped strip mall that contained a laundromat and a 7-Eleven engulfed in flames, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
Both the 7-Eleven and the laundromat were heavily damaged and CBS 2 reported the fire is believed to have started in the laundromat and spread through the businesses' shared attic, according to the LAFD.
