Janet Sirmon: Hollywood Community Events Continue to Foster Creative Inspiration

On any given night in Hollywood, California, Janet Sirmon is confident that, without much effort at all, she will be able to discover a new source of creative inspiration. It seems, after all, that the Hollywood community -- not to mention the communities that surround the area -- is more than happy to play host to events showcasing the wonderfully pervasive creativity that so thoroughly inspires all of humanity, representing the full complement of artistic endeavors and including everything from the works universally considered masterpieces to those that inspire heated debates as to what can be credibly be defined as art at all.

The simple fact that lively debates over artistic endeavors are surely taking place inside Hollywood galleries and private residences alike is proof enough that creativity is deeply valued throughout the community and is part of the reason so many talented artists continue to flock to the region in hopes of becoming moved in a way that allows the full realization of their artistic potential.

Sirmon, the owner of Janet Sirmon Fine Art and a resident of the area since 2010, pointed to several recent as well as upcoming events as evidence that the Hollywood community is truly unique in its ability to foster creative inspiration in artists regardless of the medium in which they work.

Citing the Downtown Bookfest as a particularly appropriate piece of evidence in support of her theory, Sirmon praised the manner in which the event acknowledged how art and artists come to be inspired by all kinds of creative works. Literature is surely at the heart of the event, but visual mediums -- photography, for example -- are also featured and play a critical role in supporting the event's principal theme.

The owner of Janet Sirmon Fine Art then went on to offer another example highlighting how Hollywood is unique in its ability to encourage creative endeavors across all mediums, this time discussing the pop-up exhibition brought to the area by the 14th Factory. The exhibition will feature performance art installations as well as creative works ranging from architecture and design to photography, videography, and sculpture, all organized around a central theme and expressed by more than a dozen artists hailing from all over the world.

There are few places capable of attracting such high-minded artistic endeavors, and there are even fewer capable of hosting -- or perhaps even willing to do so -- such a massive exhibition in a pop-up space. The frequency of these events and the fact that the events are always so well attended and so deeply appreciated is surely a key part of the reason the Hollywood community will continue to be a haven in which artists are able to find creative inspiration just about anywhere they happen to turn.
