Jumper Shuts Down 101 Freeway During Rush Hour
Police were able to safely detain a man who threatened to jump from a downtown Los Angeles overpass onto the Hollywood (101) Freeway.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man who threatened to jump Friday from a downtown Los Angeles overpass onto the Hollywood (101) Freeway was taken into custody, but not before traffic was halted in both directions, causing major delays during the afternoon rush.
Officers and firefighters responded to the scene near Alameda Street about 5 p.m., according to Los Angeles police.
Firefighters placed an airbag beneath the man as traffic was stopped in both directions, according to the California Highway Patrol.
