Khu.éex', a Native American Fusion Band Founded by Bernie Worrell and Preston Singletary to Complete the Triple LP Release
Khu.éex' is on Kickstarter and preparing to release the Triple LP, "They Forgot They Survived", Bernie Worrell's final band collaboration.
(Seattle, WA) Khu.éex', the native fusion band co-founded by Bernie Worrell recently launched their Kickstarter campaign to advocate for public support for the financing of the additional studio time and production work needed to complete the release of “They Forgot They Survived”. This forthcoming triple LP represents three years of work where Bernie Worrell was instrumental, as well as every member of this native fusion band. Preston Singletary, who co-founded Khu.éex' with Worrell, speaks about the forthcoming album, and what it means to him in the video on the band’s Kickstarters page as filmed at his glass studio. They have offered creative and heartfelt incentives for those wanting to participate in the campaign, as they want the audience and fans of the band to become truly engaged, and their hope is that the importance of perpetuating this native fusion music, resonates with many. “In addition to of course to raising the funds to complete and release this music, we truly want to make the personal connection with the audience, so that they may too enjoy the music, the art and have the profound connection to the music of Khu.éex'.” He continued, “this was Bernie Worrell’s final band collaboration and working with him was inspiring, as one might imagine. He represented sheer joy in creating music, always smiling, and would be on the keyboards on our "off time" playing what he called “cartoon melodies”. Singletary continued, “as he was playing the "cartoon melodies", he would then pause for a moment with a huge smile on his face to look around to see who was payingattention. He loved making others smile and inspiring sheer joy.”
The incentives available through the Kickstarter campaign include downloads of Khu.éex'’s first album release, “The Wilderness Within”, and of their forthcoming album upon completion, “They Forgot They Survived”. They are also offering a vinyl album package of both albums which includes both a double LP vinyl and a triple vinyl LP. By contributing one may also chose the incentives where they will receive Preston Singletary’s glass pieces, prints of his artwork, as well as at a higher incentive level, an actual glass blowing party at Preston Singletary's art studio in Seattle. Should a contributor desire to participate at the $5000 -Executive Producer level, they will visit the studio during a recording session, and receive credit on the album release of “They Forgot They Survived”. Preston Singletary concluded in a recent interview, “I feel funk music embodies the best of rock, soul, dance, jazz and also gospel. What we, Bernie Worrell and the rest of our talented band brings to the forefront is an embodiment of conjoining and sharing a Native American cultural perspective and language with western instruments and synthesizers.”
