LA Pride Parade Street Closures Announced For Hollywood

LA Pride Parade is returning to Hollywood for the first time in decades, and that means road closures are planned across Hollywood.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — For the first time in half a century, LA Pride Parade is returning to its roots in Hollywood Sunday, but that means the new route will trigger road closures.

The parade is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m., but some roads along the route will remain closed throughout the day. The parade will start at Hollywood and Cahuenga boulevards and head west on Hollywood Boulevard and south on Highland Avenue, and east to Sunset Boulevard and back to Cahuenga Boulevard.

Hollywood Boulevard will be closed between Cahuenga Boulevard and Vine Street from 12:01 a.m. to 11:50 p.m. Sunday, and Selma Avenue will be open to outgoing and residential traffic only.

The Los Angeles Police Department Friday issued a traffic advisory, warning motorists to expect delays and look for alternative routes.

The following street closures will be in effect from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m Sunday:

  • Hollywood Boulevard from Highland Avenue to Vine Street;
  • Cahuenga Boulevard from Yucca Street to Sunset Boulevard;
  • Highland Avenue from Hollywood Boulevard to Sunset Boulevard; and
  • Sunset Boulevard from Highland Avenue to Vine Street.

Paula Abdul will serve as "Icon Grand Marshal," and other notable participants will be "Celebrity Grand Marshal" Mark Indelicato of "Ugly Betty" and "Hacks" and "Community Grand Marshal" Sir Lady Java.

Following the parade, Pride Village will be open on Hollywood Boulevard, featuring sponsor tents, beverages, carnival attractions, vendors and performances.
