LAPD Chase Ends In Sunset Boulevard Crash

It was the second LAPD chase in 24 hours involving suspected car thieves and multiple crashes.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A woman lead police on a slow-speed freeway chase Tuesday morning from the San Fernando Valley to Echo Park, where police took her into custody.

It was the second LAPD chase in 24 hours involving suspected car thieves and multiple crashes. In this chase, police were aided by heavy traffic, which stymied the driver's attempts to flee. At times during the pursuit, the motorist got stuck in traffic, but stopped for traffic signals and then continued through intersections.

The chase lasted about a half-hour, ending at about 9:45 a.m., when a patrol car forced the van to spin out on Sunset Boulevard near the Harbor (110) Freeway in the Echo Park area. The move sent the van slamming into another driver and a parked car before coming to a stop. The woman exited the van and authorities arrested her for driving a van that had allegedly been reported stolen.
