Live Long and Landscape

Live Long and Landscape: Gardening for Health and Happiness October 19, 2013 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden: Arcadia, CA

Gardening and healthy living naturally go hand in hand. What could be healthier than eating fresh, homegrown fruits, vegetables, and herbs? And the process of gardening is terrific exercise. For strength training and stretching, it’s like having a gym in your own backyard, but even better since you’re surrounded by flowers, green growing things, and the sounds of nature. Gardens are also good for the soul, as peaceful retreats and places to re-energize and de-stress.

In this fun all-day seminar we’ll:

- discover the ideal fruits and veggies to grow in California from the author of California Fruit & Vegetable Gardening Claire Splan; uncover the best way to get the most benefit from a garden workout, while still being good to joints and muscles, from “Get Fit Through Gardening” guru Jeffrey Restuccio; explore landscape feng shui through a lecture and garden walk with feng shui expert and author of Feng Shui Your Life Jayme Barrett; discover how to select and grow herbs for health, healing, and eating from the owner of Desert Canyon Farm and author of Homegrown Herbs Tammi Hartung; and learn how to “Turbocharge Your Landscape for Health and Longevity” from landscape architect and author of Lifelong Landscape Design Mary Palmer Dargan.
