Motive A Mystery In Hollywood Hills Slaying

Police are asking for the public's help finding out more information about the shooting death of a 26-year-old man in Hollywood Hills.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Investigators have yet to determine the motive for Monday's shooting death of a 26-year-old man working in a Hollywood Hills apartment building.

Police Tuesday asked for the public's help in identifying the shooter who killed Yuvini Cortez. Cortez was gunned down about 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 2000 block of Argyle Avenue, east of Vine Street. Officers responded to a call of a shooting and found Cortez suffering from a gunshot wound to his body, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Detectives say Cortez was working inside the building when the suspect -- an approximately 30-year-old Hispanic man who was wearing a blue jacket and brown pants -- entered and fired one shot before fleeing on foot. A motive was unclear.
