Overnight Closures of Hollywood Freeway To Create Rush-Hour Traffic Headaches

The rolling closures will temporarily affect stretches of the freeway in both directions between Glendale and Cahuenga boulevards.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Motorists using the Hollywood (101) Freeway between Echo Park and Hollywood during early morning hours could run into some traffic delays over the next four days due to sporadic closures as part of an ongoing re-paving project.

According to Caltrans, the rolling closures will temporarily affect stretches of the freeway in both directions between Glendale and Cahuenga boulevards between midnight and 5 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday. Officials said the freeway will be closed in small sections, affecting only one direction at a time.

The same closures occurred earlier this month.

The closures will accommodate the installation of "loop detectors" in the pavement that track travel-time information and speeds to reflect real-time traffic conditions. Installation of the detectors is one of the last phases of a $19.26 million project to repave the freeway from the downtown area to Hollywood.
