Pink's Hot Dogs Pays the Piper in the Dodgers-Cubs Wager

The iconic Los Angeles hot dog purveyor is swallowing its LA pride and serving up Chicago Dogs for Cubs fans.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Cosidering they were betting against the Cubs, a team that hadn't won the World Series since 1908, it seemed like Pink's Hot Dogs of Los Angeles was making a safe bet wagering the Dodgers would beat the Cubs for a World Series berth.

We all know how that turned out. And now the sad day has come for Pink's to pay up and pay homage to Chicago. The bet was that if the Cubs win the series, Pink's would buy Wiener's Circle Chicago Dogs for their first 108 customers on the same day as Game 1 of the World Series -- Tuesday -- and would also donate $1,908 to Cub Manager Joe Maddon's Respect 90 Foundation. It's been 108 years since the Cubs won the World Series and 1908 represents the last year the Cubs won it.

If the Dodgers won the playoffs, then Wiener's Circle was to buy a Chili Cheese Dog for Pink's customers for one hour and also would donate to Pink's chosen charity 100 percent of two hours of sales at Wiener's Circle.

"Pink's is paying off, but with a broken heart, since they love the Dodgers," the eatery's management said in a statement.

Cubs fans will start lining up Tuesday at Wiener's Circle on N. Clark Street at 10:30 a.m. Chicago time.
