Police Standoff Leads To Hollywood Farmers Market Closure Sunday

The Hollywood Farmers Market was closed Sunday while authorities dealt with a man, possibly barricaded, throwing items from an apartment.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — The Hollywood Farmers Market was closed Sunday morning when a man began throwing items from a nearby apartment and engaged in an hours-long standoff with police, authorities said Sunday.

As of 11:45 a.m. Sunday, there were no reports of injuries. The Los Angeles Times reported that residents were being turned away from the weekend market while police deal with the standoff and investigate the scene.

The incident happened at around 7:30 a.m., when Los Angeles Police Department officers received reports of a man with a handgun who had fired “multiple rounds” in the 1600 block of Cosmo Street, KTLA reported.

The Hollywood Farmers Market wrote on Facebook that all of its staff and vendors were safe amid the closure.
