Ralphs Security Guard Fatally Shoots Woman After Screwdriver Altercation: LAPD
The woman hit the guard with a fire extinguisher and tried to assault him with a screwdriver before the guard shot her, police say.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — A security guard fatally shot a woman at a Ralphs store Monday afternoon after the woman hit the security guard with a fire extinguisher and attempted to assault him with a screwdriver, police said.
The woman has not yet been identified by police.
The incident occurred at the Ralphs at Hollywood Boulevard and Western Avenue at around 3 p.m. When police arrived on the scene, the security guard was performing first aid on the woman. He told officers that he had shot her during a confrontation in which she was wielding a screwdriver, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she died, police said.
