Rapper 'Young Dolph' Hospitalized After Hollywood Shooting
A 43-year-old suspect was arrested for attempted murder in the incident that occurred outside the Loews Hollywood Hotel.

HOLLYWOOD, CA – A 43-year-old accused of shooting rap artist Young Dolph in the heart of the Hollywood tourist district man was arrested Wednesday and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.
Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., was shot around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday outside the Loews Hollywood Hotel in the 1700 block of North Highland Avenue, just north of Hollywood Boulevard. Police said the 32-year-old rapper got into a fight with three men and was thrown to the ground, when one of the alleged assailants pulled out a gun and shot the rap artist multiple times.
Corey McClendon of Memphis, Tennessee was detained near the shooting scene soon afterward, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He was arrested early Wednesday morning and was being held in lieu of $1 million bail, but it was not immediately clear if McClendon is the suspected gunman.

Thornton ran into a shoe store after the shooting, leaving a trail of blood. He remains hospitalized in critical condition, but police said he is expected to survive.
Various media outlets have suggested that the shooting may have been the result of an ongoing feud between Young Dolph and fellow Memphis rapper Yo Gotti. Thornton had claimed that earlier this year in Charlotte, North Carolina, his SUV was riddled with around 100 bullets, and he subsequently released an album called "Bulletproof."

It was not immediately known if there is any connection between McClendon and Yo Gotti, who was staying with his entourage at the Loews hotel, police told the Los Angeles Times.
McClendon has prior drug and theft-related convictions in Tennessee, the newspaper reported.
Young Dolph was scheduled to perform in South Los Angeles on Thursday.
