Road Closures and Routes to Avoid During Vice President Biden's Visit to LA

Parts of downtown will be closed and other parts should be avoided during Vice President Joe Biden's visit to Los Angeles Wednesday.

Los Angeles, CA — Air Force 2 is flying into town, and that means Vice President Joe Biden’s motorcade will jam up Los Angeles traffic Wednesday.

The Vice President will be in town for the Espy Awards ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Biden will be presenting the Jimmy V Perseverance Award to Turner Sports broadcaster Craig Sager, for his continued work while battling leukemia.

Police are advising commuters to avoid the traffic headache sure to come with the vice president’s motorcade.

According to police, the following areas of the city should be avoided when possible Wednesday:

  • The area around Imperial Highway between Vista Del Mar and Sepulveda Boulevard from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • The area around Figueroa and Flower streets between Third Street & Wilshire Boulevard from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • The area around Flower Street between Fourth Street and Venice Boulevard from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • The area around Pico Boulevard between Hope Street and the 110 Harbor Freeway from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • The area around L.A. Live Way between Pico Boulevard & Olympic Boulevard from 6 p.m. – 7:30p.m.
  • The area around Chick Hearn Court between the 110 Harbor Freeway & Figueroa Street from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30p.m.
  • The area around Imperial Highway between Vista Del Mar & Sepulveda Boulevard from 7:30 p.m. – 9:30p.m.

CLOSURES / RESTRICTIONS:

  • Downtown Los Angeles - Eastbound Fourth Street (the lower two-lane portion) will be closed between Figueroa and Flower streets, on the north side of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
