Car Fire Scorches 2 Acres Near Newhall

NEWHALL, CA – Nearly two acres of brush were charred by flames from a car fire off the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Newhall, authorities said Thursday.

The blaze was reported just before 9:40 p.m. Wednesday south of Newhall Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire was fully contained around 12:45 a.m.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened, authorities said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department assisted in fighting the fire with both ground and air units, according to the department's Brian Humphrey.

The right three lanes were closed and reopened around 12:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
