Sheiks Seek First Win at Canoga Park
Hollywood High football tries to rebound from last week's overtime loss.

The Hollywood High varsity football team has had a week to correct the mistakes that ended up costing the Sheiks in their 26-20 overtime loss at Monroe.
On Friday, the Sheiks will travel back to the San Fernando Valley to take on Canoga Park in another nonleague game — this time against a Hunters squad that is also trying to rebound from a Zero Week loss.
Canoga Park was routed by Jefferson, 30-10, last Thursday in Los Angeles and returns home eager for its first victory after finishing 6-4 last season, good enough for third place in the Valley Mission League.

Kenneth Ribeiro had an impressive debut at quarterback against Monroe, completing all six of his passes, including touchdowns to Jeremi Ross and Sam Morales.
Hollywood and Canoga Park did not play each other last season. Friday's varsity game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. at Canoga Park High.

Meanwhile, Bernstein High has a bye after its 19-13 season-opening victory over Annenberg last Friday at Santee High. The Dragons will be back in action Sept. 16 when they continue nonleague play at Torres.
