Storm Knocks Out Power to 41,000 DWP Customers

Thousands of residents were left powerless during Sunday's winter storm.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reports that 41,000 of its customers were without electricity throughout its service area as of 5 p.m.

Particularly hard-hit are the Mid-Wilshire area, with about 5,400 customers without power; alms, with about 5,000 without service; East Hollywood, with 3,500 customers affected; and Mid-City, where about 2,900 DWP customers were without service.

Utility spokeswoman Vonda Paige says about 8,000 DWP customers have had service restored since the storm began.
