HOLLYWOOD, CA — Universal Studios Hollywood and its neighboring CityWalk will remain closed through at least April 19 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the theme park announced Tuesday.

The park closed March 14, with officials originally saying they hoped to reopen as early as this Saturday. But with the pandemic remaining a threat and the state and county issuing orders for people to remain home and avoid large gatherings, the park opted to extend the closure.

Universal Studios Hollywood and the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida will remain shuttered "as we continue to respond to current conditions and make the health and safety of team members and guests our top priority," according to a statement from the theme park. "... We will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed, based on guidance from health agencies and government officials."
