Woman In Stolen U-Haul Plows Through Market, Rams Cruiser: Police

Police arrested a woman following a wild chase through the Downtown Produce Mart.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A woman is in custody after leading police on a wild chase through Los Angeles in possibly stolen U-Haul truck, according the Los Angeles Police Department. The chase ended after she drove onto the crowded grounds of the Produce Mart, rammed a patrol car, and tried to run off.

The chase became extremely dangerous as pedestrians flooded the marketplace at Central Avenue and Seventh Street in Downtown.

The chase began shortly after 10 a.m. and ended about 20 minutes later. Police were able to hem in the truck with a patrol car, but the woman then rammed the patrol car. An officer fired at least one shot in response, but she was not wounded.

After being taken into custody, the woman struggled with officers, who restrained her. Paramedics were sent to the scene as a precaution, but it was unclear if anyone was injured.
