3. Five teams still unbeaten (orangecountytribune.com) — Huntington Beach High's football team puts its 3-0 record on the line Thursday in a road game at Redondo Union, while the school's new girls' flag football squad is off to a strong 7-2 start. The girls will face undefeated San Marcos on Friday after a thrilling triple-overtime win over Edison, giving local fans two big matchups to watch this week.
4. Oro, a trauma support dog for first responders, is the future of addressing mental health needs, officials say (yoursun.com) — First responders in our area, including Huntington Beach firefighters, are turning to specially trained trauma support dogs like Kingman and Oro to ease the emotional toll of difficult calls. These Critical Incident Stress K-9s help lower anxiety, open up conversations in debriefs, and are part of a growing, statewide effort to normalize mental health support in fire and police departments.
