• Smart phone policy on agenda (orangecountytribune.com) — High school families in Huntington Beach should know that the Union High School District board will vote Tuesday on a new smartphone policy requiring devices to be off during instructional time, with limited exceptions. The district, which serves Huntington Beach plus most of Fountain Valley and Westminster, will meet at its Bolsa Avenue office, with closed session at 5 p.m. and the public meeting at 6 p.m.
• Edison football drops to 1-3 with lopsided loss to Palos Verdes (ocregister.com) — Edison High's football team fell 28-3 to Palos Verdes in a nonleague matchup Friday night at Huntington Beach High School, dropping the Chargers to 1-3. Despite one strong red-zone drive and solid effort, Edison's offense struggled to finish drives, while Palos Verdes' balanced attack steadily pulled away.
• California Company Seeks DEA Approval to Import Marijuana, THC and Psychedelics for Research (themarijuanaherald.com) — A Huntington Beach–based firm, Irvine Labs, is asking the DEA for permission to import marijuana, THC, and several psychedelics strictly for research, clinical trials, and analytical work. If approved, the registration would let the company bring in bulk Schedule I substances, though any individual imports would still need case-by-case federal signoff and could not be used for commercial drug sales.
