4 Dead, 4 Injured After Boat Capsizes Off Imperial Beach Coast: Coast Guard
Crews continue to search the waters for any additional victims.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — At least four people are dead and another four were injured after a panga-style boat capsized Friday night off the coast of Imperial Beach, authorities said.
The search for additional victims remains underway Saturday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Coast Guard watchstanders were notified about the boat capsizing around 11:40 p.m. Friday near Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach.

Five minutes later, Coast Guard officials were alerted to six people on the beach. One of them was pronounced dead, while another was found under the capsized boat and rescued.
Three more people were found dead in the water around 1:45 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

The four injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital.
The people on the boat are suspected of entering the country illegally, according to the Coast Guard. One person was transferred to a Department of Homeland Security agency.
Several of the boat's occupants claimed Mexican nationality, while others remain unidentified, according to the Coast Guard.
Crews continued to search the waters for any additional victims on Saturday.
The incident remains under investigation.
