62K Pounds Of Paper Collected At Latest SDCCU Shred Day

Fear not if you missed the event in San Ysidro and Mira Mesa. SDCCU will go for Guinness World Records "shredding" title in June at stadium.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – San Diego County Credit Union’s latest Free Shred Day Event, held in March at three locations - San Ysidro, Mira Mesa and Murrieta - brought in a total of 62,700 pounds of paper collected and shredded, according to organizers.

The next SDCCU Super Shred Event is scheduled for June 15 at SDCCU Stadium where the company plans to break its own most paper shredded in 8 hours Guinness World Records® title.

“SDCCU is pleased to provide this free service to our community to properly dispose of confidential information,” said SDCCU President and CEO Teresa Campbell. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of these events. Please join us at SDCCU Stadium on June 15 where we will be shredding documents and going for our seventh Guinness World Records title.”

SDCCU began hosting its free Shred Day events in 2007 and has since collected, shredded and recycled more than 4.1 million pounds of documents at no charge, saving more than 34,000 trees (roughly 120 pounds shredded represents one saved tree), according to the company.

San Diego County Credit Union serves more than 407,000 customers in San Diego, Riverside and Orange counties with 43 branch locations and 30,000 ATMs.
