IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — Two men were stabbed within about an hour of each other in Imperial Beach, but it was unclear if the incidents were connected, authorities said Wednesday.
The first stabbing was reported Saturday night near Dunes Park, and the second stabbing happened around 8:45 p.m. the same night less than two miles away at 13th Street Market, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the first stab victim and another person walked inside Mike Hess Brewing -- also located in Imperial Beach -- where a good Samaritan assisted the injured man until deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene. The man, whose identity was not immediately available, was taken to a hospital. He was expected to recover.
The second stabbing happened when two men reportedly tried to steal a pack of beer from 13th Street Market, and the store's owner was stabbed while confronting the two alleged thieves. The owner was also expected to survive his injuries, the sheriff's office said.
It was unclear if the suspect or suspects were taken into custody.
Authorities urged anyone with further information about the cases to contact the sheriff's office or Crime Stoppers.
