• Senior Affordable Housing Breaks Ground in Imperial Beach (countynewscenter.com) — A new 50-unit senior affordable housing complex, The Haven on Palm, has just broken ground in Imperial Beach, with half the apartments reserved for older adults exiting homelessness. Built on the former Imperial Beach United Methodist Church site next to the Neighborhood Center, the $48 million project backed by county funding and vouchers is slated for completion by early 2028.
   

• Stinky river crisis: San Diego County approves $1.8 billion to treat Tijuana River sewage (latimes.com subscription) — Imperial Beach residents could see long-awaited relief from chronic sewage pollution as San Diego County supervisors advance a $1.8 billion plan to divert and treat Tijuana River flows before they reach local beaches. The proposal, partly dependent on a November countywide sales tax measure, aims to fund new treatment facilities and fix a Saturn Boulevard hotspot that has been sending airborne toxins into nearby neighborhoods.
