Teen Charged With Vandalism For Imperial Beach Graffiti, No Hate Crime Charges (patch.com) — An Imperial Beach home was allegedly defaced with hate-related graffiti, and an 18-year-old has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor vandalism charge tied to one of the incidents. Prosecutors opted not to pursue hate crime charges, though deputies say several South Bay homes were tagged with anti-Semitic symbols. The judge released the defendant under supervision, barring tagging tools and contact with the residence.
2. Feds find Tijuana River pollution poses public health hazard in San Diego (getwetprojectblog.com) — Imperial Beach residents are among those the federal government now confirms are breathing hydrogen sulfide levels from the Tijuana River high enough at times to harm health. A new health assessment validates years of complaints about headaches, burning eyes and sleepless nights across South Bay neighborhoods. County leaders are moving ahead with a U.S.-side sewage capture-and-clean system and distributing thousands of air purifiers.
3. It's official: Coronado is the newest addition to San Diego Community Power – San Diego Union-Tribune (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Imperial Beach households already getting power through San Diego Community Power will soon have Coronado as a new partner city in the regional, locally governed energy program. The CCA offers three renewable-heavy rate plans that currently undercut or closely match SDG&E prices for most customers. Officials say adding Coronado won't raise costs for existing accounts in Imperial Beach or elsewhere.

The report links decades of sewage infrastructure failures to measurable health risks, especially for Latino and outdoor workers, and highlights contamination near local schools. It appears within a broader statewide roundup on drought, El Niño, wildfire, and water policy.
