Armed, Masked Man Robs South Bay Truck Stop

The incident was reported Tuesday night, police said.

OTAY MESA, CA – Police Wednesday were searching for a masked man who robbed an Otay Mesa truck stop at gunpoint.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at a truck stop near the intersection of La Media Road and Avenida de la Fuente, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.

The thief walked into the store, pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the clerk and demanded cash, Buttle said.

The clerk complied and the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, the officer said.

No injuries were reported.

The bandit was described as a roughly 5-foot-9 man who weighs around 210 pounds and has a muscular build. His ethnicity was not reported.

He was last seen wearing a green ski mask, a hoodie, dark pants and black shoes.

Robbery detectives were investigating the incident.
