Complete NB Closure Planned on Interstate 805
Caltrans crews will widen a freeway bridge.

A stretch of northbound Interstate 805 from University City to Sorrento Valley will be closed tonight as Caltrans crews work to widen a freeway bridge.
The northbound freeway is scheduled to be shut down between Nobel Drive and Mira Mesa Boulevard from 9:30 p.m. today to 5 a.m. Tuesday, according to Caltrans.
Most northbound motorists will be detoured onto westbound state Route 52 then onto northbound Interstate 5. Those traveling north from La Jolla Village Drive, Miramar Road and Governor and Nobel drives will take southbound Interstate 805 to westbound state Route 52 then onto northbound Interstate 5.

On Tuesday night, crews are scheduled to close southbound Interstate 805 from the I-5/I-805 merge to La Jolla Village Drive. The closure will extend from 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Southbound motorists will be detoured onto Interstate 5 and eastbound state Route 52.
Caltrans officials said the closures are necessary so crews working on the roughly $86 million first stage of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project could widen a bridge.
Plans for the project also include adding carpool lanes, which will eventually extend on both sides of the freeway from state Route 52 to Mira Mesa Boulevard, and a direct access ramp at Carrol Canyon Road, according to the state transit agency.
