The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped today for the 21st consecutive day, decreasing 1.7 cents to $2.768, its lowest amount since Dec. 18.
The average price has dropped 29.5 cents over the past 21 days, including nine-tenths of a cent on Tuesday, and is 10.8 cents less than a week ago and 21.5 cents lower than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA
and Oil Price Information Service.
However, the average price is 33.5 cents higher than one year ago due to a stretch of 20 increases in 21 days that ended Jan. 7 totaling 35.1 cents. The dropping prices are the result of increased supply stemming from refinery issues being resolved and increased imports, according to Allison Mac, a petroleum analyst with GasBuddy, which bills itself as the nation’s leading provider of retail fuel pricing information and data.
