UPDATE: Device Near Imperial Beach Pier Not Dangerous
Sheriff's officials said the device was possibly a weather device used to collect data on the storm.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA – Imperial Beach Pier has reopened after it was closed and evacuated early Friday following reports of a suspicious device.
Deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff's Substation received a call just before 8 a.m. about a suspicious device in the 900 block of Ocean Lane near the Imperial Beach Pier.
According to a statement from Sheriff’s officials, the device was described as a black cylinder about 8 to 10 inches tall on top of a cinder block. There were wires coming out of the cinder block.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department's Sheriff's Bomb/Arson along with County Hazmat and the Imperial Beach Fire Department responded to the scene. As a precaution, a portion of Seacoast Drive was closed for a short time.
Sheriff’s officials said the device turned out not to be dangerous and was possibly a weather device used to collect data on the storm.
