Navy Weapons Training May Get Noisy: Advisory

Naval Base Coronado advised Imperial Beach residents of training exercises beginning Monday.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA: Blank weapons fire may be heard Monday around Imperial Beach as a Navy training exercise gets under way.

The training in the vicinity of Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach, just east of the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge, is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. MondayΒ through April 22, according to Naval Base Coronado. It will involve pyrotechnics and blank weapons fire.

"The Navy recognizes the importance of being good neighbors with the local communities and makes every effort to abate noise when possible," according to the statement.
