“Sleeping Beauty” is a 1959 Walt Disney beautiful animated movie. It is a beautiful movie about Prince Philip falling in love with a peasant girl who is actually a real Princess. The Princess lives at the castle with her father and mother who are King and Queen. They could not have children and after years they had their little Princess named Aurora. The fairies take care of her at the castle and then an evil fairy named Maleficent shows up at the castle. The good fairies tell the evil fairy that she is not wanted there to get out. And from then on, the evil fairy wants to hurt Aurora and maybe even kill her. To protect Aurora, she is taken far away from her family to live in the forest at a simple cottage while she is guarded for years. After she grows up she becomes beautiful and her name is change to Briar Rose to protect her. She is a sweet and gentle young woman. While walking in the forest Rose attracts the attention of Prince Philip, whom her parents planned for Rose to marry years before she was taken away from her family. She has attracted the attention of Prince Philip while he is riding his horse Samson and Rose flees from him not knowing that he is a Prince and he not knowing that she is a real Princess. Prince Philip tells his father that he wants to marry the peasant girl who is actually Princess Aurora (aka Rose). His father is totally against it. Meanwhile the evil fairy learns about Rose (aka Aurora) and they have to take Rose back to her parents at the Castle. While Rose is at her parents’ Castle, the evil fairy shows up and lures Rose into an empty room and causes Rose to prick her finger on a poison needle of a sewing spinning wheel. The evil fairy wants her to die, but the good fairies lesson the evil spell from a death into a deep sleep only to be awaken by true love’s kiss. The sleeping injured Rose is taken to the highest tower as she sleeps. They put her there to protect her waiting for her true love’s kiss. In the end, Prince Philip approaches the castle and the evil fairy turns herself into a dragon to battle the Prince herself, to keep him from the real Princess named Rose (aka Aurora). Prince Philip throws a sword into the heart of the dragon making her fall to her death. Philip enters the Castle and goes up the stairs to the highest tower to awaken the real Princess Aurora (aka Rose) with a kiss. The spell is broken and the Royal couple go to the ballroom where Princess Aurora reunites with her parents The King and Queen. Princess Aurora and Prince Philip live happily every after.
I had a castle of my childhood and young adulthood. When I was taken to live with my new parents, they moved to Winchester. There in Winchester was 100 Oaks Castle that I stayed there as a child and young adult. I wrote many of my poems at the castle and I have many wonderful memories with family and friends at the castle. Good memories of many holiday parties with family and friends, it was beautiful there with snow on the ground. Later our friends bought the castle and I enjoyed many more good memories there. Years later the castle had been sold and donated to the disabled so they could live there. I remember calling the castle telling them that the castle had been part of my history and the people who ran the castle wanted me and my disabled son, Adam to come back and live there. We were planning on leaving California and going back to live at the castle, where we would have been taken care of. Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, son of Queen Elizabeth, his sketches could be seen on the walls of the castle. Sadly, before we could move back, the castle burned down around the time the Queen’s castle in England burned, very eery. We were sad that our 100 Oaks Castle had burned down. But, I did have a castle in my life during my childhood and during my young adulthood. By Princess Samantha Kennedy
