Here is this week’s COVID-19 update from the County Health and Human Services Agency with data through Oct. 26, 2021.

Vaccination Progress:

  • Doses administered: Over 5.03 million.
  • Received at least one shot: Almost 2.53 million or 90.2% of San Diegans 12 and older are partially vaccinated.
  • Fully vaccinated: Over 2.28 million or 81.5%.

Deaths:

  • 29 new deaths were reported since the last report on Oct. 20, 2021. The region’s total is 4,207.
  • 21 men and eight women between Feb. 10, 2021 and Oct. 26, 2021.
  • Two were 80 years of age or older, six were in their 70s, 12 were in their 60s, four were in their 50s and five were in their 40s.
  • One of the people who died was fully vaccinated and 28 were not fully vaccinated.
  • 23 had underlying medical conditions, three did not and three had medical history pending.

Cases, Hospitalizations, Case Rates and Testing:

  • 549 COVID-19 cases were reported to the County on Oct. 26, 2021. The region’s total is now 369,361.
  • 3,691 cases were reported in the past week (Oct. 20 through Oct. 26) compared to 3,105 cases the previous week (Oct. 13 through Oct.19).
  • In the past 30 days (Sept. 27 to Oct. 26), there were 288 COVID-19 hospitalizations; 273 people were not fully vaccinated and 15 were fully vaccinated.
  • San Diego County’s case rate per 100,000 residents is 13.6 overall, 7.5 for fully vaccinated people and 23.1 for not fully vaccinated San Diegans.
  • 19,703 tests were reported to the County on Oct. 26, and the percentage of new positive cases was 2.8%.
  • The 14-day rolling percentage of positive cases among tests is 2.4%.

Community Setting Outbreaks:

  • 25 new community outbreaks were confirmed in the past seven days (Oct. 20 through Oct. 26): 10 in TK-12 grade school settings, eight in business settings, four in a government setting, one in a retail setting, one in a grocery setting and one in an emergency services setting.
  • The community outbreaks trigger is more than seven in a 7-day period.
