South Bay Celebrates 2012 Employees and Teachers of the Year
More than 100 people attended a ceremony last Thursday to honor dedicated teachers and other district employees.
To a raucous crowd of more than 100 people, the South Bay Union School District honored its Employees of the Year last Thursday. For each of the 30 employees honored, ranging from a custodian to special education teachers, the crowd gave cheers and whistles when their name was read out loud.
School principals or managers then took a few minutes to describe their best qualities and dedication to students.
Mendoza Elementary School 4th grade teacher Melissa Romo was named the district's Certificated Employee of the Year and Business Services Technician Jodi King was named 2012 Classified Employee of the Year.

Each of the SBUSD employees honored were selected by their peers.
The district's Board of Trustees, union representatives, the IB Optimist Club, Mission Federal Credit Union and Councilman Jim King were also in attendance.
