Twenty two of the 24 student Peer Mentee cohort were introduced to PATH faculty and
UC San Diego Ph.D. mentors as well as staff. The exciting interactive event provided an overview
of the PATH program’s transfer and career development support, one-on-one mentorship,
and Canvas and events featuring professionals in their Arts and Humanities Career.
Acting Dean of Educational Support Services Krystal Henderson, welcomed and congratulated
students on their acceptance into the program. City College PATH Faculty Coordinator,
Professor Kelly Mayhew, welcomed the incoming cohort on behalf of the faculty coordinators.
Faculty mentors Jennifer Derilio, Ian Duckles, Manuel Lopez, and Denise Rogers and
UC San Diego Ph.D. mentors; Ivana Polic, Youngoh Jung, Maria Carreras, Thomas Chan,
and Alexis Meza lead college-specific break out rooms, allowing Peer Mentees build
community with one another and network with other faculty and fellows from their college.

The PATH program has been able to successfully scale program offerings due to the
PATH Integrated Fellowship Initiative (IFI) for UC San Diego Ph.D. Students. The second
year of the IFI doubled offerings to provide the year-long fellowship opportunity
to six UC San Diego Ph.D. students. The IFI offers one-year fellowships to Arts and
Humanities Ph.D. students at UC San Diego who desire to explore faculty and administration
careers paths in the community colleges.
