Service to Some MTS Bus Routes Halted Wednesday by Failed Labor Negotiations
MTS Access and some Sorrento Valley Coaster Connections were also affected by the work stoppage that began Wednesday morning.

SAN DIEGO, CA: Some Metropolitan Bus Routes stopped running Wednesday morning after unionized drivers voted against a labor contract.
Members ofΒ Teamster Local 542 who are not directly employed by MTS did not approve theΒ most recent labor agreementΒ offer from their employer, First Transit,Β Tuesday night.Β
Trolleys and theΒ vast majority of the 95Β busΒ routes operated by MTS are not affected, the public transportation provider advised.

However, service was halted as of Wednesday morning on theΒ following 18Β routes operated byΒ First Transit for MTS:Β 14, 18, 25, 83, 84, 88,Β 833, 851, 870, 944, 945, 945A, 964, 965, Sorrento Valley Coaster Connection Routes 972, 973, 978,Β 979 and MTS Access.Β
Additionally, routes 25 and 964Β will haveΒ limited serviceΒ based on driver availability. Customers canΒ expect major delays and some missed service on the two routes.

MTS Access routes, which areΒ operated by First Transit,Β will continue to serve medical and life sustaining appointments.Β Some paratransit service may be provided by taxi servicesΒ and other additional service providersΒ based on availability of drivers.Β
