Dear Sweetwater District Families:

We are so grateful for your incredible dedication and perseverance over the past year, navigating through distance learning and the COVID-19 Pandemic. We appreciate that you have chosen to trust us with your child’s education.

We are especially excited about starting in-person hybrid groups at our school sites. As you may have heard, now that local COVID-19 case rates and positivity rates have fallen dramatically and our educators have had an opportunity to be vaccinated, the district is getting ready for Stage II in the transition to in-person instruction. You may have received a survey regarding in-person instruction potentially beginning April 12, 2021. The exact nature of instruction schools will offer is dependent on the number of families who responded with plans to return in person. We look forward to providing you more details in the coming weeks.

Returning to school in-person may stir some excitement or nervous feelings. We recognize that for as many families as are ready to return to in person instruction, an equal number may not be ready. While we recognize families must make that personal choice for their students, please be reassured that much planning and preparation has and continues to happen to ensure students return to a healthy, safe, and comfortable learning environment as social-emotional wellness is a critical focus for us in returning to in-person instruction.

The District has implemented health and safety protocols and protective measures for the small group instruction that has been occurring on campus over the past few months, and has been expanding those in preparation for in-person hybrid reopening. For your convenience, we have provided a link to the District’s reopening plan adopted by the Board here.

In the coming weeks, the district will provide campus-specific health and safety procedures and details to help students know what to expect and what will be expected of them when they return to campus to ensure all of the Sweetwater community remains safe.

Thank you for helping make our return to in-person instruction go as smoothly as possible.

Please contact your school site if you have questions.
Thank you.

Moises G. Aguirre, Ed.D.
Interim Superintendent
