Suspect In Fatal 2020 Stabbing In Chula Vista Captured

CHULA VISTA, CA β€” A parolee who disappeared and remained at large for nearly two years after allegedly stabbing another man to death outside a Chula Vista apartment complex was back behind bars Thursday on suspicion of murder.

Members of a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force captured Raymond William Lynde, 30, at San Ysidro Port of Entry on Wednesday, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.

Lynde is suspected of knifing 23-year-old Ariel Burquez in the 200 block of Rancho Drive on the evening of July 18, 2020, CVPD Sgt. Anthony Molina said. Burquez died at the scene of the assault.

The suspect was believed to have fled to Mexico following the slaying, according to police.

Authorities have disclosed no suspected motive for the slaying and have not revealed the relationship, if any, between the suspect and victim.

Lynde was being held at San Diego Central Jail without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
