Suspect Sought In Attempt to Run Down Officer In Imperial Beach
A man is at large who allegedly fled police in a stolen car before trying to run down an officer.
IMPERIAL BEACH, CA β A suspect who tried to run down an officer was being sought Sunday in Imperial Beach, police said.
Police say that at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, officers tried to stop a stolen Ford F150 truck in the 1900 block of Dairy Mart Road.
"The driver did not yield to the officer's lights and siren and a vehicle pursuit ensued," said Lt. Martha Sainz of the San Diego Police Department.

At one point, the suspect drove down the 1100 block of Zurich Drive, which was a cul-de-sac, Sainz said. The suspect then made a U-turn as officers left their cars and ordered the suspect to stop. The suspect drove toward an officer and another officer fired his weapon at the suspect.
The suspect fled with officers in pursuit, eventually stopping in the 1200 block of Holly Avenue in Imperial Beach and fleeing from the vehicle with a woman, who was eventually located, police said. The man remained at large.

During the pursuit, the suspect allegedly threw a handgun out of the vehicle, which officers recovered.
Homicide detectives were called to investigate the shooting, which hit the suspect's vehicle. Police are unsure whether the suspect was hit.
Detectives learned that the suspect is wanted on suspicion of robbing a San Diego home on Wednesday. He was described as Hispanic, in his 30s, five- feet-eight-inches tall, 180 pounds and wearing a ball cap.
No officers were injured in the incident, police said. The unidentified officer who fired his weapon has been with the SDPD for three years.
